Here at the Dark Star Café we've built our reputation on being the only place to go where everything is homemade. We're also known for our bodacious sandwiches! All of our regular sandwiches are made with at least eight ounces of meat & cheese. That's more than double what some other sandwich shops put on their bread! Check out the photo gallery for some pictures of our food. We are now offering half subs which satisfy the cravings of a lighter appetite. We roast all of our own deli meats, using only the finest prime meats and the best poultry. Our tuna loin is sushi grade and all of our seafood is as fresh as can be. We offer all kinds of catering from drop off trays to full blown events, tailoring each one to your specifications. Our pizza is made from the finest all trump flour, using the best whole milk mozzarella, (some even have our homemade mozzarella), and our sauce is made here with only imported Italian whole tomatoes! When we put a topping on your pizza we use a whole pound of toppings on a large pie! No one else can say that! Our slices are cut from a twenty-two inch pie, the biggest on the Island! We are looking forward to celebrating our two year anniversary, this year on June 29th, in our Ship Bottom location, on beautiful Long Beach Island, NJ. We are Proud to Announce that we've been nominated as the "Best Sandwich Shop on the Jersey Shore" by Fox 29 Philadelphia, and the results are in! We came in fifth place on the whole Jersey shore, from Sandy Hook, Monmouth County to Cape May!! The best part is we won in Ocean County! We got the most votes in Ocean County, not having been open a year yet! A real big "Thank You" to all who voted for us! We have also been voted "One of the Best" Delicatessens & "One of the Best" Take~Out Restaurants in the 2007 Islander Readers' Choice Awards. This is an especially significant accomplishment for us, as we had been open only three months at the time of the voting! We would like to thank all of our guests who voted for us, & hope to continue to satisfy everyone. We've put in a new kitchen and renovated our dining room to accommodate our guests. The Dark Star Café features chef~prepared gourmet pizza, bodacious sandwiches, innovative salads, homemade deli meats, our own fresh mozzarella, roasted vegetables, jumbo lump crab cakes, barbecued ribs, soups, salsas, sauces, spice rubs, salad dressings and for dessert we have "From~Scratch" baking! Cookies, brownies, cheesecake, mousse cake, muffins, scones & more! Anything we can supply to satisfy our guests' quest for flavor. We even make our own Granola! If We Don't Make It... We Don't Sell It! Our Chef has over twenty years experience in some of the finest properties in New York & New Jersey. He has received "Excellent" ratings by The New York Times, Zagat's Guide to New York City Restaurants, Zagat's Guide to New Jersey Restaurants.
